Portales, New Mexico - The 2024 Volleyball season continued for the Western New Mexico Mustangs Volleyball team. They would start the LSC Crossover with a match against Sul Ross. The Mustangs would battle tough with each of the sets and win their first match of the tournament 3-0.  

Sul Ross:

Jazmyne Walker (Las Vegas, NV/Legacy High School) led the offense for the Mustangs with nine kills. Eimaya Medina (Las Cruces, NM/Centennial High School) would spread the ball around the court nicely with 17 assists. Five different Mustangs would lead with a service ace each.

The back row of the Mustangs had a busy game as Lilouann Bechec (Cannes, France) would lead the team with 20 digs. Jazmyne Walker (Las Vegas, NV/Legacy High School), Jade Rampton (Nelson, New Zealand/Shanghai American School), Maria Osorio (Pereira, Colombia/Calasanz Pereira), and Jéssica Sales would all have one block assist each.  

Set 1
The Mustangs and Lobos would continue to stay neck and neck tying it off at 5-5. The Mustangs would soon pull into the lead gaining an eight-point lead making it 18-10. Staying in the lead, the Mustangs would win the set 25-16.

Set 2
In set two, the Mustangs would start strong to gain the lead against the Lobos. The Mustangs would soon pull ahead and win the second set 25-17.

Set 3 
Using the momentum from the previous sets, the Mustangs would stay strong and battle to keep the lead having a 16-5 gap against the Lobos. They continued to stay on top for the rest of the set and won 25-17.

The Mustangs will be back again for their match against Midwestern State University at 3PM MT on September 20, 2024.
