Lubbock, Texas - The WNMU Mustangs Men's and Women's Cross Country teams continue off their 2024 season at the Texas Tech Opener 8K (men) and 6K (women) held by the Texas Tech University.
"The ladies I saw big improvement on their aggressiveness in racing" said Head Coach
Macario Campos. "They did a great job running against Angelo State and Lubbock Christian who both were ranked higher than them in the preseason polls, so I'm happy with their performance. The men ran an extraordinary race against the preseason poll #4 national ranked West Texas. The Mustangs were able to break into WT's team top five. We placed four runners between WT's fourth and fifth runner, so I'm happy for both team's progress"
On the women's side, the Lady Mustangs showed great resolve, earning 205 points and finishing in eighth place. Individually for the women,
Aubrey Lozoya (Albuquerque, NM/Cottonwood Classic Preparatory) powered through the finish line with a time of twenty-five minutes and eight seconds (25:08). Also, in the 25 min barrier was
