SILVER CITY, NM – WNMU Softball played at The Yard for their final time this season against Texas Women's University and fell short 5-6 against the Pioneers.

GAME 3:

TWU started on top in the game, hitting a HR in the top of the 1st and 4th innings.

In the bottom of the 4th inning, Ramona Fossum (Mescalero, NM/Mescalero Apache HS) was the first to reach 1st base for the Mustangs after an error from TWU. The error also allowed her to round the 1st bag and head to scoring position. Kamerynn Cordova (Fowler, CA/Fowler HS) sacrificed a forced bunt to put R. Fossum at 3rd. Following Cordova, Hannah Martinez (Carlsbad, NM/Carlsbad HS) earned this game's first RBI for WNMU as she singled deep out to Center Field to bring in R. Fossum.

Nichole Armijo (Mesa, AZ/Red Mountain HS) homered deep over Left Field wall in the next inning to tie back up with the Pioneers. Kennedy Jarrard (Carlsbad, CA/Carlsbad HS) took advantage of some high pitching and earned a walk. Stepping in to run for K. Jarrard was Ana Armijo (Albuquerque, NM/Volcano Vista HS), who advanced to second after Adlai Alvidrez (El Paso, TX/Americas HS) singled an error to Short Stop.

Kaylee Hickman (Cloudcroft, NM/Cloudcroft High School) earned her first RBI of the day after grounding into fielder's choice at 2nd base. In the process, Ana Armijo (Albuquerque, NM/Volcano Vista HS) rounded 3rd base and slid into home plate to put the Mustangs on top.

TWU scored four more times at bat in the game. After taking the game to extra innings, R. Fossum would reach 1st base on another walk. Stepping in for R. Fossum was Reya Adkins (Benson, AZ/ASU Digital Prep). The following batter, K. Cordova, sent the ball deep into Left Field zone to advance R. Adkins to 3rd while reaching 2nd base in the same play. Hannah Martinez (Carlsbad, NM/Carlsbad HS) would rally WNMU fans one last time as she earned a hit double to bring in both R. Adkins and K. Cordova.

K. Cordova stepped in the circle first today and finished with two strikeouts in 4 innings.

The Mustangs will face Oklahoma Christian University next weekend in their final 3-game series this season starting on Friday at 1PM MST in the opponent's backyard.
