SILVER CITY, N.M. - The Western New Mexico University softball team finished up a three-game home series against Texas A&M International on Satuday afternoon. The Dustdevils defeated the Mustangs 8-0.
Kamerynn Cordova (Fowler, CA/Fowler HS) would receive the start for the Mustangs. Cordova managed 2.0 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 1 BB and 1K. She would receive the loss  (3-6).
Kiya Hamar (Forest Ranch, CA/Pleasant Valley HS) pitched in relief of Cordova, going 1.1 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 3 ER and 2 K. Lanraida Tenorio finished the game in the circle for the Mustangs. She went 1.2 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER and 2 K.
The Dustdevils would get started early, thanks to a double form Griego, bringing in Maldonado for a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Espinoza followed suit with a two-run home run.
In the third inning Birgham hit a SAC Fly, bringing home Castoreno, 4-0 Dustdevils.
Garcia would reach on fielder's choice to score Garcia for a 5-0 lead. Gonzalez sent a three-run shot over centerfield to extend the lead to 8-0.
Tessa Rameriez started for the Dustdevils, going 5.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB and 4 K.
The Mustangs will travel to Lubbock Christian for a three-games series on March 12th.
