Box Score 2 LUBBOCK, Texas - The Western New Mexico University Softball team traveled to Lubbock Christian University for a three-game series against the Chaps. LCU took down Mustangs 8-0 in five innings in both games.
GAME ONE:
Kiya Hamar (Forest Ranch, CA/Pleasant Valley HS) (0-2) got the start for the Mustangs today. Hamar went 1.0 IP, 4 H, 4 R and 4 ER.
Kamerynn Cordova (Fowler, CA/Fowler HS) came in relief at 3.0 IP, 5 H, 3 R and 2 H.
Labraida Tenorio (Rio Rancho, NM/Rio Rancho HS) would get a chance in the circle as well, going 0.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R and 1 ER.
In the first inning, Ally Oyanguren grounded into fielder's choice to bring home the first run for LCU 1-0. Kamryn Gibbs would send one over the fence for a 4-0 lead to end the inning.Â
Oyanguren brought in another Chaps' run in the third to lead 5-0. Riley Flores helped extend the lead to 6-0.
The Chaps would add another run in the 4th and the 5th inning, extending the lead to 8-0.
Maxine Valdez got the start for the Chaps, going 5.0 IP, 3 H and 11 Ks.
GAME TWO:
Emily Maddux (Douglas, AZ/Douglas High School) (1-1) received the start in game for WNMU. Maddux managed to go 0.2 IP, 3 H, 6 R, 6 ER and 4 BB.
Madison Kloepper (Llano, TX/Llano HS) pitched in relief. Her line read 3.1 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER and 1 BB.
Singles, doubles and a two-run home run were all seen by the Chaps in the first inning of game one. The Chaps broke this one open in the first inning bringing home 6 runs for a 6-0.
Hope Banales sent a solo shot over the fence in 5th to make it 7-0. A single with the bases loaded would bring in the final run, making it 8-0 after five.
Teoni Lamb recorded the win for the Chaps, going 5.0 IP, 3 H, 2 BB andd 7Ks.
The Mustangs will be back in action for game three tomorrow at 12:00 PM MT.
