LOS LUNAS, NM – The mustangs finished off the last day of the South Central Regional Crossover Today. Facing Colorado St.-Pueblo and Simon Frasier, WNMU would go on to win the first matchup, but fall in the second.

GAME 1:

Mustangs gave up one run to Colorado St.-Pueblo in the top of the first inning, but would quickly tie back the game after Jenna Peters (Lake Elsinore, CA/Temescal Canyon HS) nailed a single out to right field and brought in Kaylee Hickman (Cloudcroft, NM/Cloudcroft High School). With bases loaded, Nichole Armijo (Mesa, AZ/Red Mountain HS) would take a ball four to walk in the leading run. 

WNMU followed their successful first inning by scoring four more in the very next opportunity to bat. Mustangs held their lead throughout the rest of the game, scoring again in the 4th and 5th innings.  

Labraida started for the 2nd time in a Mustang uniform and finished this game as the winning pitcher,

finishing with 5.2IP, 2 SO, and forcing 27 AB for the team.

GAME 2:

Mustangs once again gave up a run to start off the game. WNMU would be left out dry in scoring all the way until the very last inning. The maple leaves found a way to stretch their lead gap over WNMU in the 4th and 6th innings, where they ran through home plate 3 times in each inning. With A. Armijo on second, Ramona Fossum (Mescalero, NM/Mescalero Apache HS) singled deep out to right field to bring in a run from scoring position and prevent a shut-out.

Bourque was Simon Frasier's winning pitcher, who had 0 ER, 5 SO, and only gave up 1 run for the Maple Leaves.
