SILVER CITY, N.M.- The Western New Mexico Softball team ended a three-game series with the Greyhounds of Eastern New Mexico at The Yard on Wednesday afternoon. The Mustangs would fall to the Greyhounds 12-3, thus giving ENMU a 2-1 series win over WNMU.

Labraida Tenorio (Rio Rancho, NM/Rio Rancho HS) would receive the start for the Mustangs. Tenorio would managed 312 IP, 7 H, 7 R (6 ER), 4 K, 2 BB. She received the loss and is now (2-3) on the year. Kamerynn Cordova (Fowler, CA/Fowler HS) would pitch in relief of Tenorio going 2.0 IP, 4 H, 5 R (5 ER), 1 K and 1 BB. Emily Maddux (Douglas, AZ/Douglas High School) would also get some time in the circle going 0.2 IP, 1 H, and 1 BB.

The Greyhounds would get started early, thanks to a two-run Home Run from Marissa Rodriguez for a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning.

WNMU responded in the bottom of the third with three runs of their own. Ramona Fossum (Mescalero, NM/Mescalero Apache HS)e would double, bringing home Ana Armijo (Albuquerque, NM/Volcano Vista HS) and Xitlali Trejo (Albuquerque, NM/Sandia HS), tying the game up 2-2. Hannah Martinez (Carlsbad, NM/Carlsbad HS) would then hit a ground rule double to bring in Fossum. 3-2 Mustangs.

In the fourth inning, Valeria Contreras tied things up with single for the Greyhounds. Mikenzey Patterson would then double to left center, bringing three runs across for a 6-3 advantage. Taighen Whitzel would end the inning with a two-run Home Run for an 8-3 margin.

The Greyhounds would do their final damage to the Mustangs in the sixth inning, thanks to an error from the Mustangs, scoring Patterson. 9-3 Greyhounds. Whitzel hit her second two-run Home Run of the game for an 11-3 lead. The final run came from Judith Osuna in the inning for a 12-3 win over the Mustangs.

Rodriguez would get to start for the Greyhounds, going 6.0 IP, 9 H, 3 R (3 ER), 2 Ks and 2 BB. She is now (2-2).

The Mustangs will be back in action on Feb. 24th at Texas A&M Kingsville.
