Silver City, New Mexico - The 2024 Volleyball season for the Western New Mexico Mustangs continues with a home game in Silver City, New Mexico, against the St. Edward's Hilltoppers. Battling to the end, the Mustangs lost a tough match to the Hilltoppers, 0-3.
St. Edward's University:
Jazmyne Walker (Las Vegas, NV/Legacy High School) led the Mustangs with nine kills total for the Mustangs.
Eimaya Medina (Las Cruces, NM/Centennial High School) will spread the ball around the court with 19 assists.
Lilouann Bechec (Cannes, France) would lead the Mustangs in service aces with two.
The back row of the Mustangs was a heavy game with
Lilouann Bechec (Cannes, France) leading digs with a total of 12.
Jazmyne Walker (Las Vegas, NV/Legacy High School) and
Jade Rampton (Nelson, New Zealand/Shanghai American School) would help the Mustangs with a solo block each.

The Mustangs and Hilltoppers battle head-to-head, keeping the score close until a kill by
Carley Deck (Tucson, AZ/Tanque Verde High School) pulls them ahead 7-6. The Hilltoppers catch up and tie the score at 17-17. The Mustangs will continue to fight, and
Jayden Hughes's (High Rolls, NM/Cloudcroft High School) kill will make the score 24-24. The Hilltoppers will pull on top and win the set 24-26.

Set 2
To start the set strong, the Mustangs will earn a four-point run to make the score 4-4. The Hilltoppers will record a four-point run until
Jazmyne Walker (Las Vegas, NV/Legacy High School) receives a kill and stops their run. The Hilltoppers will stay on top until the end of the set and win 17-25.

Set 3
Earning the first point of the set,
Maria Osorio (Pereira, Colombia/Calasanz Pereira) records a kill for the Mustangs. The Mustangs and Hilltoppers are tied at 12-12 with a kill from Jéssica Sales. To pull into the lead,
Jazmyne Walker (Las Vegas, NV/Legacy High School) puts up a kill to make the score 14-13. Not being able to pull through, the Mustangs lose the last set 20-25 against the Hilltoppers.

The Mustangs move on to their last home game this Saturday, November 9, 2024. Going against St. Mary's the Mustangs will honor their seniors at 6 p.m. MT.
