LAREDO, TX – The Mustangs finished their first road trip of 2024 in Laredo, where they took on South Central Region #6 ranked Texas A&M International University. While the Mustangs led in the early parts of the game, they would ultimately fall to TAMIU 66-83.
The Mustangs would start hot, but would allow the Dust Devils to shoot 50% from the field and take hold of the game.
Leading the mustangs with 14 pts, was Sydney Wright (Houston, Texas/Henley High School) as she shot 75% from deep. Also in double figures was Brooke Rodgers (Phoenix, Arizona/Cactus Shadows High School), who went 4-6 from the charity stripe and 11 on FGs. Rodgers also picked off three times from Dust Devils before leaving the floor.
The Mustangs came out with intensity in the second half, outscoring TAMIU by one in the 3rd Quarter. However the Dust Devils would prove to be to much outscoring the Mustangs by 6 in the fourth.
WNMU will return back to Silver City on Thursday to face UTPB Falcons and earn back their win column
