SILVER CITY, N.M. – The Western New Mexico University Volleyball finally returned home for their first home game of the season with the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith. The Mustangs fell in three straight sets.

Jazmyne Walker (Las Vegas, NV/Legacy HS) led the offense with eight kills. Letícia Correa was good for 14 assists, while
Madalyn Mavady (Las Vegas, NV/Liberty High School) added 13. Jéssica Sales added three aces.
Lilouann Bechec (Cannes, France) led the defense this afternoon with 13 digs.
Chase Kallevig (Louisburg, KS/Louisburg High School) and Walker each added 10 digs as well. In her season debut,
Carley Deck (Tucson, AZ/Tanque Verde HS) showed up big up front with two blocks.

The Lions came out soaring in set one, leading 10-3 early. WNMU would try to pull things close, but fell 25-16

Lions 1, Mustangs 0.
In set two, a much more focused Mustangs team came out, as they stormed out to a 6-1 advantage. The Lions would settle in, as it would take 29 points to finish off the Mustangs, 29-27.

For set number three, the Mustangs and Lions traded early, being tied up at 7s. Even after a late surge from the Mustangs, the Lions would hold them off, 25-22

The Mustangs will return home for homecoming week with a match on Saturday against Oklahoma Christian (12:00 PM MT).
