SAN ANTONIO, TX. - At St. Mary's Softball field on Saturday afternoon, the Western New Mexico University Mustangs lost the game 5-3.  The Mustangs lost all three games in the series.

Kamerynn Cordova (Fowler, CA/Fowler HS) started in the circle for the Mustangs. She pitched  2.2 IP, 5 H, 4 ER, and 1 BB. She is now (2-9) on the year. Aryana Munoz (Dexter, New Mexico/Dexter High School) came in as relief, pitching 0.0+ 2 H, and 1 ER. Emily Maddux (Douglas, AZ/Douglas High School) finished the game going 3.1 IP and 2 BB.

The Rattlers came out attacking early, scoring the first run of the game in the bottom of the 1st inning. Kaylynne Ruiz hit an RBI sacrifice fly.

In the top of the 2nd inning, the Mustangs answered back with a run. The Rattlers defense could not field the bunt and the pitcher botched a comebacker by Ciara Salazar (Tularosa, NM/Tularosa HS), leading to a run.

The Rattlers offense continued to stay hot in the bottom of the 3rd inning. The Rattlers put up four runs making the score 5-1. Jamison Holder hit a sacrifice fly. Later in the inning, Ericka Gomes hit a two RBI single. Lauryn Ramos then extended the lead with an RBI single.

Bryana Munoz (Dexter, NM/Dexter High School) stepped up to the plate in the top of the 5th inning, driving in an RBI double to the right center gap. WNMU trailed 5-2.

Continuing the momentum in the 7th inning, Munoz had an RBI single cutting the lead to 5-3.

The Rattlers started Madeline Bloom. She is now (4-2) on the year. She went 5.0 IP, 3 H, 2 R (1 ER), 4 K and 1 BB. Sara Robertson came into relief, throwing 1.2 IP, 2 H, and 1 ER. Catalina Cavazos earned her second save of the year pitching the last 0.1 IP,

The Mustangs will come back home this weekend to play against St. Edward's. The first two games are March 11th at 12:00pm and 2:00pm. Sunday, March 12th, the game will be at 12:00pm.
