SILVER CITY, N.M. - Playing at The Yard, in beautiful Silver City, NM, the Western New Mexico University Mustangs lost both games to St. Edwards. The Game one score was 9-1 and game two Mustangs lost 7-1.

GAME ONE:

Kamyerynn Cordova got the nod to start in the circle. She pitched  2.2 IP, 8 H, 8 R (7 ER), 3 K, and 1 BB. She is now (2-10) on the year. Jasmin Kirby (Surprise, AZ/State Farm Stadium HS) finished out the game throwing, 2.1 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, and 1 K.

The Hilltoppers came out swinging early, with a Jerzie Pelham solo home run in the 1st inning. SEU led 1-0.

In the top of the 2nd inning, SEU's Ella Hutzler singled in a run. The Hilltoppers scored another run with Katie Dillon putting a ball in play and reaching. SEU led 3-0.

The Hilltoppers extended their lead to 8-0 in the 3rd inning, after Alex Massie doubled in a run. Hutzler then hit a three-run home run. Dillon later singled in a run.

In the bottom of the 3rd inning, WNMU's Ciara Salazar (Tularosa, NM/Tularosa HS) singled in a run, getting the Hilltopper lead to 8-1.

Continuing their momentum, SEU sored another run from Sloane Hill reaching on an RBI fielder's choice.

The Hilltoppers started McKenna Leamon, throwing a complete game. She is now (4-5) on the year. She went 5.0 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 8 K and 3 BB.

GAME TWO:

Emily Maddux (Douglas, AZ/Douglas High School) got the loss (0-4) after surrendering 5.0 IP, 10 H, 6 ER, 2 K, and 1 BB. Cassidy Paulson (Arvada, CO/Golden Colorado HS) finished the game and went 2.0 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 4 K, and 3 BB. 

The Hilltoppers got on the board first with a two-run home run by Ella Hutzler in the top of the 2nd inning SEU led 2-0.

Megan Morris extended the Hilltopper lead to 3-0 after an RBI single.

Headed to the top of the 6th inning, Alex Massie singled in a run. Later in the inning, Jordan Neely had an RBI walk. Jerzie Pelham got in the action as well, hitting a two RBI single. SEU led 7-0.

In the bottom of the 6th inning, the Mustangs started to make some noise with Bryana Munoz (Dexter, NM/Dexter High School) hitting an RBI single. The Mustangs trailed 7-1.

SEU's starting pitcher, Cadie Currie threw a complete game, earning the win and is now (7-3). She went 7.0 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 7 K, and 1 HBP.
