SILVER CITY, N.M. – Saturday afternoon, the Western New Mexico University Women's Tennis Team fell to Cameron University 7-0.
The Aggies got the early lead, winning the doubles point. At No. 3 doubles Willemijn Van Mierlo (Amsterdam, Netherlands/Calandlyceum) and Mann-Ning Li (Converse, TX/John H. Guyer HS) fell in a close battle 4-6. No. 1 doubles Kajsa Gedlitschka (Greensboro, NC/Grimsley HS) and Caini Wang (New Taipei City, Taiwan/Taipei Municipal Nangang Vocational High School) lost 3-6.. No. 2 doubles Jenny Larson and Livia Leite (Cunha-SP, Brazil/Bernardino Querido,) would would lose 4-6.
In singles No. 1 Mierlo would lose 1-6, 2-6. No. 2 Larsson would also face defeat 3-6, 0-6. At the No. 3 Leite would fall 1-6, 4-6. Wang at No. 4 would not find much success either, losing 4-6, 1-6. Single, No. 5 Li would keep it close but lose 4-6, 3-6. No. 6 Gedlitschka would win the only set for the Mustangs going 1-6, 6-4, 6-10.
The Mustangs will play a conference match against Midwestern State first serve around 9:00am
