Box Score Arlington, TX – The Western New Mexico University Women's Tennis team played a LSC thriller against Dallas Baptist University. The Patriots were victorious with 4-3 score.
DBU would sweep the doubles point and took the early lead. No.1 doubles duo with Caini Wang (New Taipei City, Taiwan/Taipei Municipal Nangang Vocational High School) and Kajsa Gedlitschka (Greensboro, NC/Grimsley HS) would fall 6-3. Jenny Larsson (Stockholm, Sweden) and Livia Leite (Cunha-SP, Brazil/Bernardino Querido,) played at the No. 2 spot, fell 6-2. The No. 3 doubles duo with Willemijin Van Mierlo and Mann-Ning Li (Converse, TX/John H. Guyer HS) fell short 6-2.
Three of our six Mustangs would come out victorious against DBU in their single matches. No.2 Larsson would win 5-7, 6-3, 7-5. Leite played in the No. 3 position and came back to win 2-6, 6-3, 6-4. In the No. 4 spot, Wang won I consecutive sets, 7-5, 7-5.
Mustangs No.1 player, Van Mierlo, fell short in three sets, 3-6, 6-3, 2-6. Playing in the No. 5 position, Li would lose 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (7-5). Kajsa Gedlitschka (Greensboro, NC/Grimsley HS) played in the No.5 spot and lost 6-0, 6-2.
