PUEBLO, COLO. - Sunday afternoon, the Mustangs finished a three game series against Colorado State- Pueblo, resulting in a Mustang 8-3 loss. WNMU loses the series, winning only the first game on Saturday.
CSU Pueblo had the bats going early. The Thunderwolves scored three runs in the first four innings. On all three runs, the leadoff batter got on base and would come into score.
The Mustangs did not get on the board until the 5th inning. Kennedy Jarrard (Carlsbad, CA/Carlsbad HS) got hit-by-pitch, then Jenna Peters (Lake Elsinore, CA/Temescal Canyon HS) lined a nice double to the right center gap. Breeanna Simmons (Chula Vista, CA/Olympian High School) got Jarrard in, by reaching base by an error. Jordyn Ayala (Tempe, AZ/McClintock HS) walked to load the bases and Bryana Munoz (Dexter, NM/Dexter High School) would get an RBI getting hit-by-pitch. The Mustangs cut the Thunderwolves lead to 3-2.
In the bottom of the 5th inning, a single, double, and a 2 RBI single from the Thunderwolves put them up 5-2.
In the top of the 6th inning, the Mustangs added a run with a Adlai Alvidrez (El Paso, TX/Americas HS) RBI single to left field. The Mustangs trailed 5-3.
On the flip side of the inning, CSUP added three more runs. The Thunderwolves reached base on a walk, then advanced to second from a base hit up the middle. A base hit and an error brought in two runs, followed by a runner stealing home, making the lead 8-3.
Emily Maddux (Douglas, AZ/Douglas High School) started in the circle for the Mustangs and get her second loss of the year (0-2). She went 3.2 IP, 3 H, 3 R (1 ER), 3 K, 3 BB, and 1 HBP. Cassidy Paulson (Arvada, CO/Golden Colorado HS) finished out the game pitching 2.1 IP, 6 H 5 R (3 ER), and 1 BB.
The Thunderwolves started Marissa Robertson. Robertson got the win and is (2-0) on the year. Her line went 7.0 IP, 3 H, 3 R (1 ER), 2 K, 8 BB, and 2 HBP.Â

The Mustangs will come home next weekend Feb. 17-18, playing against Oklahoma Christian. Friday's first pitch is at 12:00pm and the second around 2:00pm.
