Box Score 2 PUEBLO, COLO. - Saturday afternoon, the Mustangs played two of the game series against Colorado State- Pueblo. In game one, the Mustangs came out on top after eight innings, 5-4. In the second game, CSUP held the Mustangs to three hits, winning 2-0.
"Both Kameyrnn and Cassidy had great approaches on te rubber today," said Head Coach Ashley Hickman. "We have been working hard on our bounce back that was shown today."
GAME ONE
Kameyrnn Cordova got the nod and pitched a stellar game, going 8.0 IP, 7 H, 4 R (2 ER), 2 K, BB, and HBP.
After two innings of the score being knotted 0-0, the Mustangs got the Thunderwolves on their heels. Breeanna Simmons (Chula Vista, CA/Olympian High School) continues to swing the hot bat with an RBI single.
"We talked about our approach this week as being aggressive early in the count," said Hickman. "Our goal is th always put pressure on the defense, when we attack we are much more successful."
In the bottom of the 3rd inning, the Thunderwolves answered with two runs. CSUP had an RBI single and scored with a pass ball.
WNMU continued to fight, taking a 3-2 lead in the top of the 5th inning. Bryana Munoz (Dexter, NM/Dexter High School) had a great at-bat with an RBI walk. Kennedy Jarrard (Carlsbad, CA/Carlsbad HS) then stepped up to the plate and had a sacrifice fly.
In the bottom of the 6th inning, the Thunderwolves tripled in a run. CSUP was not done and bunted in a run to give them a 4-3 lead.
In the top of the 7th inning, the Mustangs and Jordyn Ayala (Tempe, AZ/McClintock HS) tied up the game at 4-4. Ayala battled and put the ball in play, making the CSUP defense work, befitting the Mustangs in a fielder's choice.
Going into extra innings and the International tiebreaker in effect, the Mustangs made use of it. Simmons clutched up with a double to the right center gap bringing in a run and putting the score to 5-4.
The Thunderwolves started Jacelynn Trujillo. She went 6.1 IP, 6 H, 4 R (3 ER), 7 K, 7 BB, and HBP.Â

GAMEÂ TWO
In the 1st inning, the Mustangs were threatening early with a pair of walks but could not get them across the plate.
In the 3rd inning, WNMU starting pitcher Cassidy Paulson (Arvada, CO/Golden Colorado HS) gave up with three hits, resulting in a two RBI double giving the Thunderwolves the only runs of the game.
In the 6th inning, the Mustangs had a runner in scoring position after Kennedy Jarrard (Carlsbad, CA/Carlsbad HS) had a double to the left center gap. In the 7th inning, Ciara Salazar (Tularosa, NM/Tularosa HS) extended the inning but could not get across home.
Cassidy Paulson (Arvada, CO/Golden Colorado HS) pitched a complete game. She pitched 6.0 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 4 K, and 3 BB. Paluson falls to (0-2) on the season.
CSUP's starting pitcher was Lucy Carney. She went 7.0 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 4 K, and 3 BB.
