SILVER CITY, N.M. - Western New Mexico University head softball coach,
Ashley Hickman has announced the softball schedule for the 2024 season. The Mustangs will play a total of 53 games, 42 conference and 11 non-conference.
The Mustangs begin their season in Los Lunas, NM for the South Central Regional with their first game coming against in-state rival New Mexico Highlands on February 2nd. WNMU will also have matchups against Adams State (Feb 2nd), Fort Lewis College (Feb 3rd), UC Colorado Springs (Feb 3rd), CSU Pueblo (Feb 4th) and Simon Fraser (Feb 4th). All games will be streamed on the LSC Digital Network.
Following Los Lunas, the Mustangs will take their talents to Tucson, Ariz. for the Tucson Invitational Games on Feb. 9th. The Mustangs will play University of Nebraska at Kearney (Feb. 9th), Davis & Elkins College (Feb. 9th), Adams State (Feb. 10th), MN State University Moorhead (Feb. 10th) and Hawaii at Hilo (Feb 11th).
The Mustangs will play their first home game at the newly renovated, "The Yard" against Lone Star Conference for St. Mary's for a three-game home stand beginning on Feb. 16th. Following St. Mary's the Mustangs will welcome in-state rival Eastern New Mexico to The Yard for another three-game series on Feb 20th.
WNMU will have five more three-game home stands this year, Texas A&M International (March 8th), Cameron (March 16th), West Texas A&M (March 28th), UT Tyler (April 13th) and Texas Women's (April 19th).
The Mustangs have seven, three-game series on the road this season. WNMU travels to Texas A&M Kingsville (Feb. 24th), St. Edward's (March 2nd), Lubbock Christian (March 12th), Angelo State (March 22nd), Midwestern State (April 6th), UTPB (April 9th) and Oklahoma Christian (April 27th).
The LSC Tournament begins on May 2nd. All conference games will be streamed on the LSC Digital Network.
