CANYON, Texas – The Western New Mexico University volleyball team traveled to Canyon, Texas for a match up with the 5
th ranked Buffs of West Texas A&M University. The Mustangs would go down in three straight sets.
Senior
Jazmyne Walker (Las Vegas, NV/Legacy HS) was the catalyst of the offense tonight with 21 kills. Letícia Correa had 20 assists. Jéssica Sales and
Logan Dodge (Liberal, KS/Liberal Senior High School) had an ace each.
Janey Cortez (El Paso, TX/East Lake HS) covered the floor with seven digs. Three Mustangs recorded a block.
WNMU stayed pace with the 5
th ranked only trailing by four, 10-14. From there the Buffs opened the flood gates for a set one win, 25-12.
WT 1, WNMU 0.
In set two, the Buffs jumped out fast, 14-7. WNMU would not be able to get much going, falling 25-10 in set two.
WT 2, WNMU 0.
For set number three, the Mustangs found themselves down 12-6. Facing set point, down 24-16, the Mustangs would rally off three straight points before falling 25-19.
WT 3, WNMU 0.
The Mustangs play their final road game of the season tomorrow against Cameron (12:00 PM MT).
