DALLAS, Texas – The Western New Mexico University Volleyball kicked off a road trip against the Patriots of Dallas Baptist. The Mustangs fell in straight set, 3-0.

Jazmyne Walker (Las Vegas, NV/Legacy HS) led the offense with eight kills. Letícia Correa had 13 assists and
Madalyn Mavady (Las Vegas, NV/Liberty High School) 11. Correa also had two aces on the night.
Walker was also the Mustang's leader on defense with six digs.
Chase Kallevig (Louisburg, KS/Louisburg High School) and
Janey Cortez (El Paso, TX/East Lake HS) added five digs as well.
Naomi Kimble (Animas, NM/Animas HS) protected the net with three blocks.

The Mustangs managed to keep things close with the Patriots to start the set, thanks to a kill by
Maria Osorio (Pereira, Colombia/Calasanz) to tie things up at 10s. After taking the lead late, 19-18, the Patriots deployed a 7-0 to close out the set, 25-19.

In set two, the Mustangs came out again trading points with the Patriots, 7-7. From there the Patriot lead would grow in slow bunched, until they put away the Mustangs 25-18.

For set number three, the Mustangs trailed 13-15, forcing a WNMU timeout. The Patriots would come out scorching hot after the timeout, outscoring the Mustangs 10-4 and securing a 25-17 set three win.

The Mustangs will continue their road trip on Saturday October 7
th  with a matchup against UT Tyler (5:00 PM MT).
