SILVER CITY, N.M. – The Western New Mexico University Volleyball team returned home for a matchup with Rattlers of St. Mary's University. The Mustangs fell in four sets, 3-1.

Senior
Jazmyne Walker (Las Vegas, NV/Legacy HS) was a force on offense tonight with 29 kills.
Naomi Kimble (Animas, NM/Animas HS) had 14 kills as well. Letícia Correa had 39 assists.
Chase Kallevig (Louisburg, KS/Louisburg High School) recorded an impressive five aces.
Janey Cortez (El Paso, TX/East Lake HS) led the Mustangs on defense with 17 digs.
Carley Deck (Tucson, AZ/Tanque Verde HS) and Walker were forces up front with 3 total blocks each.

The Rattlers held a steady lead in the beginning of set one, up 9-5. After a late comeback fell short by the Mustangs, the Rattlers took set one 25-19.

In set two, the Mustangs found themselves up early 8-4, thanks to two Kallevig aces. After a tough battle, an attack error by the Rattlers gave the Mustangs the set, 25-22.

For set number three, the Rattlers came out hot, leading 12-5 out of the gate. The Mustangs eventually would settle in, but it was little too late, as they dropped the set 25-17.

For the fourth set, after trailing first, the Mustangs were able to tie things up at 12s. Towards the ladder of the set, the Mustangs trailed 20-19, before a 5-1 run put them away 25-20.
