Silver City, N.M. - Sunday afternoon, Western New Mexico University Softball took on the No. 17 Angelo State for a LSC matchup. ASU would win both games defeating the Mustangs 11-4 and 8-0.
Game One:
The Mustangs got off to an early lead after Julia Vega (Tucson, AZ/University HS) reached on an error, bringing in a Mustang runner.
In the 3nd inning, WNMU's Marina Garcia (Tucson, AZ/Desert View HS) laced a single to left field bringing in a run, giving the Mustangs a 2-0 lead.
In the 4th inning, the Rambelles offense started to get going, hitting a two run homerun to tie the game at 2-2. Â
ASU still had the home run stroke in the 5th inning, hitting a two-run home run, followed by a solo home run. The Rambelles led 5-2 going into the bottom of the inning.
In the 7th inning, ASU would hit a two-run home run and a three run home run. They would also single in a run putting the Rambelles up 11-2.
The Mustangs wouldn't go down without a fight, Vega would reach on a fielder's choice and bring in a run. The next batter, Aryana Munoz (Dexter, New Mexico/Dexter High School) would hit an opposite field single to bring in the last Mustang runner. ASU would defeat the Mustangs 11-4.
The Rambelles started with Genesis Armendariz. She would pitch a complete game going 7.0 IP, 9 H, 4 R (2 ER), 9 K, and 1 BB.Â
The Mustangs started Vanessa Hunt (Phoenix, AZ/Mountain Pointe High School). She pitched 4.2 IP, 6 H, 5 ER, 3 K and 1 BB. Vega would come in to pitch going 1.1 IP, 6 H, 5 ER, 1 K, and 2 BB. Bryana Munoz (Dexter, NM/Dexter High School) finished out the game going 1.0 IP, 2 H, and 1 R (0 ER).
Angelo State had 14 total hits with 11 being extra-base hits, five being home runs and six being doubles.Â

Game Two:
The Rambelles got up early and continued to add on throughout the first four innings.Â
Aryana Munoz (Dexter, New Mexico/Dexter High School) got the start for WNMU. She pitched 2.0 IP, 5 H, (5 ER), and 1 BB. Vanessa Hunt (Phoenix, AZ/Mountain Pointe High School) finished out the game pitching 3.0 IP, 6 H, 3 R (2 ER), and 1 BB.
The Rambelles continued to hit extra-base hits. ASU's would start the game off by doubling in a run, followed by a two-run home run, giving the Rambelles a 3-0 lead.Â
In the 2nd inning, Scheurer would hit her second home run of the game bringing in two more runs. ASU would lead 5-0 going into the bottom of the inning.
ASU would get two more runs on two hits and an error in the 3rd inning. They would lead 7-0.
In the 4th inning, Scheurer would hit her third home run of the day, getting ASU their last run of the game.
The Mustangs only hit came in the 5th inning by Laryssa Morales (Vail, AZ/Cienega High School). The Mustangs had three base runners in the game.
ASU's starting pitcher, Torrey Hogan is now (9-2). She pitched a complete game shutout 5.0 IP, 1 H, 2 K, and 2 BB.

The Mustangs will play at Texas A&M-International March 25th for a doubleheader starting at 11:00am and 1:00pm MT. On Saturday, March 26th, they will be Texas A&M-International at 11:00am MT. On Sunday, March 27th, the Mustangs will play Texas A&M-Kingsville for a doubleheader playing at 11:00am and 1:00pm MT.
