Lubbock, TX - The Western New Mexico University Mustangs traveled out to Lubbock, TX to play against the Lubbock Christian University Chaps. In a tough loss, the Chaps defeated the Mustangs 49-76.
Cynaye Bobbitt (Killeen, TX/Harker Heights HS) lead the Mustang offense shooting a season high of 17 points. Bobbitt had an excellent shooting game averaging a 67% shooting percentage average from the field goal range,50% from the three-point line, and 100% from the free throw line only shooting 3 free throws. Bobbitt also went on to have 1 rebound, 1 block, and 2 assists.
Zyan Smith (Queen Creek, AZ/Mesquite High School ) had a great game with 15 points, averaging 60% from the field goal range, and 100% from the free throw line. Smith had great overall game numbers also earning 4 assists.
Sophomore
Alina Simon (Killeen, TX/Ellison High School) was also another double-digit-number Mustang scoring 13 points, shooting 55% from the field goal range, 75% from the three-point line, and 3 rebounds.
The Mustangs shot 45.2% from the field goal range, 35.7% three-point range, and 75% free throw line.
The Chaps were lead by Juliana Robertson with 14 points, Allie Schulte with 10 points, and Ashton Duncan with 8 points.
Mustangs willl complete their season Saturday, February 26th against Eastern New Mexico.
