Lubbock, Texas - Thursday night the Western New Mexico University's Men's Basketball team played at the Rip Griffin Center, playing against the Lubbock Christian Chaparrals. LCU would take the victory 108-54. 

Two Mustangs would score in double-figures. Jordan Doss (Chicago, Ill./Chicago Hope Academy) put up 16pts and Tony Avalos (Las Cruces, NM/Onate HS) ended the night with 12pts.

LCU had seven players score in double-figures. Parker Hicks led all scorers with 20pts. The Chaps went 20-27 (66.7%) from three.

In the first half LCU led 52-33. WNMU shot 37.9% (11-29), 46.2% from three (6-13), and was 5-8 at the free throw line. 

In the second half, the Mustangs struggled from beyond the arc. WNMU ended up shooting 35.1% (20-57), 25.9% from three (7-27), and 43.8% (7-16) from the free throw line.

LCU dominated the boards rebounding the ball 42 compared to the Mustangs 25. The Chaps had fivc offensive rebounds, scoring nine second chance points. WNMU also had fice offensive rebounds and converted just three second chance points.

Both teams handled the ball well. WNMU turned the ball over eight times and LCU four times. The Mustangs would get 2pts off of turnovers, as for LCU, they converted them into 11pts. 

Fouls weren't a huge issue for either team. Both teams totaled 22 fouls. WNMU struggled from the free throw line going 7-16 and the Chaps made all six of their free throw shots.

Saturday, February 26th, the Mustangs will play their last regular season game against in-state rival Eastern New Mexico. Tip-off is at 4:00pm.
