Mustangs Fail in Nail Biter to ASU

Silver City, NM- Saturday evening, the Western New Mexico University Women's Basketball team went head-to-head against Angelo State University, in a 54-50 loss.
 
Eliza Joynes (Adelaide, South Australia/Henley Sports Academy) lead the Mustangs with 12 points and 6 rebounds. Kyra Paniora (Queensland, Australia) added 8 points for the night.
 
The Mustangs would use their defense to their advantage. Pushing the ball looking ahead to find their open teammate. Mustangs would have back-to-back fast breaks allowing them to get the easy baskets.
 
Turnovers would be a crucial factor for both teams tonight. WNMU would capitalize on ASU 16 turnovers scoring 10 points from their errors. WNMU ended with 19 allowing ASU to gain 10 extra points.
 
Mustangs out rebound Angelo State 47-42. The leading rebounder for the Mustangs was Susi Namoa (Lahaina, Hawaii/Lahainaluna High School) ending the night with 10.
 
The Rambelles bench had 12 points, while the Mustangs had 24. ASU would score 32 points in the paint compared to the Mustangs 30.
 
Mustangs will be back Sunday January 1st at 1:00 PM MT, against UTPB.
