Softball Announces 2023 Schedule

Silver City, N.M. -  Friday afternoon, Head Softball Coach Ashley Hickman of the Western New Mexico University Mustangs has announced the 2023 Schedule with a total of 50 games.

The spring schedule features the Mustangs playing in four different states. WNMU has 21 home games, in their brand new stadium, which is scheduled to be finished early 2023. The Mustangs will travel to their opponents for 21 games. Hosting the South Central Regional Challenge in Las Cruces, NM, the Mustangs will have five neutral site games. 

The LSC changed the schedule resulting in midweek games and three game series. The first day of the series being a doubleheader and the second day a single game. 

The South Central Regional Challenge will open up the season with the Mustangs playing five games on Feb. 3-5th. The Mustangs will play Simon Fraser (B.C.), CSU Pueblo, Fort Lewis, Adams State, and New Mexico Highlands.

On Feb. 10-11th, WNMU will travel to Pueblo, CO, playing a non-conference series before conference play. Last season, CSU Pueblo came to Silver City.

The first conference play starts with Oklahoma Christian on Feb. 17-18th. Starting on February 21st WNMU will travel and play instate rival, Eastern New Mexico for a midweek series.

Home stands will be every other weekend. Texas A&M-Kingsville and St. Edwards will come into town February 25th, while the St. Edward's series starts March 11th. The  Lubbock Christian series will be a midweek series starting March 21st, Angelo State March 31st, UT Permian Basin April 11th (midweek series), and Senior Weekend against Midwestern State will begin April 21st. 

The Mustangs will travel a total of seven series. After ENMU, the Mustangs play against St. Mary's starting March 3rd. Two weeks later, The Mustangs will play Texas A&M International. The Softball team will travel to Cameron starting March 26th, then to West Texas April 6th, UT Tyler April 15th, and regular season play will end against Texas Women's starting April 28th.
