SILVER CITY, N.M. – The Western New Mexico University volleyball team was in action on Friday October 28
th at Drag's Court against the No.11 West Texas A&M. The Buffs would defeat the Mustangs in three straight sets.
Junior
Jazmyne Walker (Las Vegas, NV/Legacy HS) was in charge of the Mustang's attack tonight as she totaled 10 kills. Walker also did "double-duty" leading the Mustang defense in digs with 13. Senior
Madelynn Culp (Vancouver, WA/Union High School) was dishing the ball all over the court tonight, finishing with 13 assists.
In set one the Buffs would jump out to an early 15-5 lead on the Mustangs. This lead would prove to be enough, as the Mustangs would lose set one 25-15.
Buffs 1, Mustangs 0.
The Mustangs would fare to a better start in set two, trailing the Buffs 14-11. The Buffs would then close out the set on a 11-3 run, taking set two 25-14.
Buffs 2, Mustangs 0.
Set three began the same as set two with the Mustangs keeping it close early only trailing 13-8. The Buffs would settle in a take set three from the Mustangs 25-16.
Buffs 3, Mustangs 0.
The Mustangs will be back in action Saturday October 28
th at Drag's Court for Senior Night against Cameron University (6:00 PM MT).
