Foul Trouble Hurts Mustangs in Loss to UAFS

Fort Smith, AR - A game with 46 total fouls between the two teams ends with the Western New Mexico University Men's Basketball team losing to Arkansas-Fort Smith 71-60. 

In consecutive games coming off the bench and making an impact, Joshuwan Joshson had 17pts. Robert Banks (Dallas,TX /Duncanville HS) was second on the team in total points with 13pts. Malik Johnson (Wytheville, Virginia/George Wythe High School) scored in the double-figures, going 3-6 from the field, ending with 15pts. 

The Mustangs shot 19-42 (45.2%) on the floor and were 9-23 (39.1%) from the three point line. J.Johnson was (4-5) from beyond the arc.

WNMU was out-rebounded 36 to 24. The Lions had six second hand points to the Mustangs one. The 16 turnovers hurt WNMU, as UAFS capitalized and converted 20 points off of turnovers.

Arkansas-Fort Smith went into the half leading 26-24. The Mustangs were 7-19 shooting 36.8% on the floor. From the three point line, WNMU was 4-11 (36.4%).

UAFS had two players score in double-figures. The LSC leader in points, Matthew Wilson dominated with 32pts. Courtney Murrell was second on the team in total points, ending the night with 15pts

R. Banks: 13pts, (5-8 FG), 3 reb, 3 ast

M. Johnson: 10pts, 4 reb, 4 ast

The (7-4) Mustangs will play against Oklahoma Christian on Saturday, with a 2:00pm MT tip-off.
