Name: Angelica (Nikki) Medina

A two-year Mustang and leader for the Women's Softball team, Nikki Media is a role-model for younger student-athletes. Medina, originally from El Paso, TX, held down a .270 batting average, started 15 of 16 games, had 8 runs with a double, one homerun and 9 RBIs in the 2019-2020 season. Due to Covid-19 the season was cut short. 

As we look forward to the season in March, Nikki is a player Head Coach Elsa Cocker looks to utilize. "Nikki is the energy and balance of the team, she is the calming confident voice that provides perspective and guidance. People naturally gravitate to Nikki because of her bubbly energy & personality" Cocker praises.  

Majoring in General Business, Medina plans to take on an internship in the field and eventually manage her business. When she has some spare time, she likes to go on early morning runs, bike rides, hikes, and watching romantic movies.  

Medina explains what it means to be a Mustang, "Being a Mustang is more than just throwing on a jersey, it's representing your university, it's being the change you want to see in younger generations. Being a Mustang is giving your 110% on and off the field, it's learning to play selflessly, it's about failing and coming back stronger."
