San Marcos, CA – Western New Mexico earned their first sweep of the season, and their second win for the weekend to finish 2-2 at the Cal State San Marcos Tournament. In their final game of the tournament WNMU dominated sets one and two before clinching the sweep in a nail biter third set over the Falcons of Bentley.

How it Happened:
- Selai Damuni (Kula, HI/Tempview High School) opened the match with a service ace, which lead to a 5-0 scoring run and an early timeout called by the Falcons
- Led by as many as 10 with a 24-14 edge before Bentley rallied off five points to get to 19 before a kill by Christiana DuBose (Bowie, MD/Bowie High School) ended set one.
- WNMU capitalized on Bentley errors taking another early lead a 9-3 in set two.
- A quick offensive attack propelled the Mustangs to another 10-point lead at 13-3, eventually taking the set 25-16
- It was Bentley who took the lead early in set three, before relentless defense and quick attacks gave the Mustangs the edge at 15-12.
- At match point a call was argued and reversed in the Falcons favor. They would score four to tie, and force the set into extra points.
- A kill by Kim Austin (Las Vegas, NV /Basic High School ) finally ended the match at 28-26

- Today's match gave the Mustangs their first sweep of the season.

WNMU will travel up north to Durango, Colorado for the Skyhawks Volleyball Tournament where they face former RMAC foes, Fort Lewis and Adams State. They will also face Washburn and fellow LSC member Texas A&M – International whom the Mustangs will not face in the regular conference season.
