Texas Woman's On Tap For Mustang's Final Road Series

Denton, Tex. -- After being on home turf for the past two weeks, the Mustang softball team will look to break their streak on the road this weekend as they head to Texas Woman's to close out the season. The Pioneers who sit one spot above the Mustangs in the conference rankings, sit just two spots out of the top-6 to make the conference tournament.

In their final road series of the season, the Mustangs have a chance this weekend against the Pioneers despite not having the home advantage.

LAST TIME OUT:

The Mustangs faced a tough Angelo State team last weekend to close out their two-week home stand. The Rambelles strung together a series of runs to out score Western 31-4 in the series. Three of Western's runs came late in game one, on a single from Ariana Maldonado (Albuquerque, NM/Cibola) in the fifth, and a couple of errors by ASU scored two more in the seventh.

On the verge of going scoreless in game two, Makayla Guerra (Silver City, N.M/Silver High School) scored the lone run for her team with a homerun in the fifth.

Just before the start of game three, six Mustang seniors were honored for their time at Western. An injury during warmups, also caused the Mustangs to move the lineup around.

The Rambelles tallied three multi run homeruns on the day to take a 9-0 victory, and the series sweep.

Seniors Tycee Coplan (Taylor, AZ/Snowflake) and Yasmeen Gastelum (Phoenix, AZ/Pinnacle) each recorded a hit in the loss.
