TexAnns Run Past Lady Mustangs in Home Opener

Silver City, N.M—After having the last week off, the Lady Mustangs played host Tarleton State for their home opener Friday at 12 p.m.
 
The #12 Tarleton State TexAnns held up to their ranking, getting on the board early on a homerun over the left field wall. Three more homers, one being a grand slam saw the visitors go up past the 10 run mark and never looked back.
 
The Mustangs had an opportunity early after Tycee Coplan (Taylor, AZ/Snowflake) walked and stole second and third, but was unable score.
 
Jaylyn McClain pitched three innings before Lyanna Waddell came in to close out the game, giving up two hits and one run. Tarleton's Jordan Withrow was lights out pitching a no-hitter for the TexAnns, allowing four walks, striking out seven and one hit by pitch.
 
The Lady Mustangs will be back on the diamond tomorrow at 10 a.m for Game Two of the series.
