Mustang Errors Costly in Four Set Loss

Fort Smith, AR – Three Mustangs finished with double digit kills, as the Mustangs led in nearly every category. The Lions of UAFS however capitalized on Mustang errors to capture a four set win Friday night at Stubblefield Center.

Delaney Seitz (Hillsboro, OR/Century High School) – 13 kills | .367 hitting percentage

Gabi Lau (Kailua, HI/University Laboratory School) – 21 digs | 5 assists

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • WNMU built up a 13-6 lead in the opening set on kills from Erin Moss (Kailua, HI/University Laboratory School) and Delaney Seitz (Hillsboro, OR/Century High School).
  • Errors on the Mustangs side of the net gave way to a 23-20 edge for the Lions, and ultimately the 1-0 lead in the match.
  • With a 20-16 advantage, and the chance to tie the match, the Lions would come roaring back to tie at 23.
  • A service error gave WNMU set point, but UAFS would rally off three points to complete the comeback and take set two in extra points.
  • Keeping the match alive, WNMU would again take a comfortable lead at 15-8.
  • Threatening to come back again, the duo or Seitz and Moss combined for three kills to close out set three, 25-21.
  • Set four went back and forth up until late.
  • Again Seitz and Moss would combine for kills, but could not overcome the deficit as Lion kill ended it.
