Mustangs Edged out in Exhibition

Box Score Las Cruces, N.M. -- Andrew Leonard (Tucson, AZ /Cienega ) fired off 14-points to lead the Mustang offense in a 92-46 loss at Division I New Mexico State Tuesday evening. Rajan Barnes (Harlem, NY /West Oaks Academy ) and Michael McDougal (Jacksonville, FL /White ) also contributed 11 and 10 points respectively.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Aggies were hot out of the gates, going up by 16 five minutes in.
Michael McDougal (Jacksonville, FL /White ) put a stop to the scoring run with a three of his own to put WNMU on the board.
Cyree Dunnell (Kansas City, MO/Manual Tech ) and Rajan Barnes (Harlem, NY /West Oaks Academy ) each knocked down shots from deep to add to the WNMU total.
Going into the half, NMSU held a demanding 52-16 lead.
Coming out of the break, Dunnell put the first basket in of the half.
Andrew Leonard (Tucson, AZ /Cienega ) came alive in the second half, contributing on both sides of the ball. He would finish with a team high 14 points.
As a team, WNMU doubled their points in the second half shooting 34.4% from the floor, and 37.5% beyond the arc.

UP NEXT:
The road trips continue this weekend, as the team travels up north to face familiar foes Fort Lewis and New Mexico Highlands in a Conference Challenge. Whalen Gymnasium plays host to both the men's and women's challenges over a span of four days.
The Mustang men open play Saturday Nov. 9 at 2 p.m. against host Fort Lewis. Cross state rival New Mexico Highlands awaits the Mustangs Sunday Nov. 10 with a 2 p.m. tip-off.
