Volleyball Drops Second Match of the Weekend

Wichita Falls, Tex. – In their second match of the weekend, a meeting of the Mustangs saw MSU Texas defend their home court on their way to a 3-1 win over WNMU.

TOP PERFORMERS:
Bria Augustine (Bell Flower, CA/Mayfair High School) – 18 kills | 7 digs | 1 service ace
Madelynn Culp (Vancouver, WA/Union High School) – 21 assists | 1 kill
Erin Moss (Kailua, HI/University Laboratory School) – 9 kills | 12 digs
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Back-to-back blocks from Deyzha Samuelu (Garden Grove, CA/Edison High School) and Delaney Seitz (Hillsboro, OR/Century High School) gave way to a 7-3 lead for WNMU.
  • MSU rallied off seven unanswered point to take the lead at 13-9.
  • Despite closing the gap, MSU scored the final two points of the set.
  • The second set saw WNMU go on a 9-2 scoring run to get within one at 21-22.
  • A series of WNMU errors gave MSU the set, and a 2-0 lead in the match.
  • In a must win third set, WNMU went up by as many as 8, on their way to 25-19 set win.
  • MSU came out with vengeance in the fourth and final set, holding Western to just 11 points to take the match 3-1.
UP NEXT:
The Mustang volleyball team will return home to face familiar foes Angelo State and Lubbock Christian Thursday and Saturday respectively. Thursday's match is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m., while Saturday's match will begin at 1 p.m. both on Drag's Court.
