Conference Play Continues on the Road for Mustangs

Silver City, N.M-- After an 0-2 start to the new year, the Mustangs will hit the road for two games to continue Lone Start Conference play. Head Coach Matt Enriquez and the Mustangs head to Cameron and Midwestern State in search of their first conference win.

Western enters the weekend 3-7 overall (0-3 LSC) with senior, Jon- Reese Woodson leading the offensive efforts averaging 13.4 points per game, on top of grabbing 5.6 rebounds per game. Woodson's efforts ranks him 11th in the conference in points per game, and 15th in rebounds. Teammate, Leston Gordon (Tunapuna, Trinidad and Tobago/Tunapuna Government Secondary) comes in at 5th in the conference averaging a block per game.

CAMERON AGGIES:

Under third year Head Coach Andrew Brown, the Aggies enter the weekend 4-10 overall and also in search of their first conference win, sitting at 0-4 in LSC play. Their last win came against Arkansas Ft. Smith back in December. Zach Dumas leads the Aggies with a 16.2 point per game average, hitting 67-of-172 (39%) from the field. Dumas also averages 1.9 steals per game, with 26 total on the season thus far.

MIDWESTERN STATE MUSTANGS:

In the battle of the Mustangs, Midwestern State enters the weekend with identical records to Cameron. In extra minutes the Mustangs were able to overcome Oklahoma Christian 88-82 giving them their fourth win back on Dec. 19th.

Eighth year Head Coach Nelson Haggerty has led his Mustangs to a 146-48 mark in his first seven season. This season JaJuan Starks averages 15.4 points, shooting 47% (78-of-167) from the field, 22-of-56 (39%) from deep and 37-of-57 (65%) from the charity stripe.

Western will meet up with Cameron first, with tip-off set for 7:30 p.m. on Thursday Dec. 10. They will then meet up with Midwestern State on Saturday at 4 p.m. Live stats and video stream with be provided by the respective host teams.
