#13 West Texas Up Next For Men's Basketball

Silver City, N.M—It came down to the last minute for the Mustang men's basketball team. Western went 29-of-66 (43.9%) from the field, 5-of-18 (27.8 %) from deep, and 15-of-24 of the free throw line in a 78-80 loss to Eastern New Mexico Thursday night.
 
Five Mustangs finished in double-digits, with CJ Vanbeekum (Phoenix, AZ/Paradise) at the helm with 13 points, hitting 5-of-6 from the floor and 3-of-4 from the line. JR Woodson and Leston Gordon (Tunapuna, Trinidad and Tobago/Tunapuna Government Secondary) each finished with 12 points each, followed by Enriquez with 11 and Tony Avalos (Las Cruces, NM/Onate) with 10.
 
The West Texas Buffs come in at #13 in the NABC Division II Top-25 Poll. They had a close call Thursday night, coming back from a 10-point deficit to narrowly defeat UT- Permian Basin.The Buffs are 14-2 overall, and 3-0 in LSC play.
 
Ryan Quaid leads the Buffs offense averaging 15.9 points per game, going 97-of-177 (54%) from the field.  Quaid also leads the defensive efforts with 8.6 rebounds per game.
 
The men's game is set for Saturday at 4 p.m. on Drag's Court.
