Winning Streak Snapped by Greyhounds


Silver City, N.M – The Lady Mustangs saw their two-game winning streak snapped tonight, as the visiting Eastern New Mexico Greyhounds ran away with a 58-46 victory.
 
Despite shooting 45 percent from the field, to the Greyhounds 37. On the defensive end, the visitors out rebounded Western 32 to 22 giving them the advantage, as well as hit 76 percent of their free throws to Westerns 64.
 
Western was hot out of the gate, outscoring their opponents 17-15 in the first quarter. The rest of the game would go in favor of the Greyhounds.
 
Destiney Johnson (El Paso, Texas/Parkland High School) led the way for Western draining 10 points, on 4-of-6 from the field and 2-of-4 from the free throw line. Taylor Allison (Little Elm, Texas/Denton High School) contributed five points of her own, on top of six rebounds.


Western will look to rebound against 3rd ranked West Texas A&M this Saturday at 2 p.m. on Drag's Court.
