Football Set for Final Conference Game Against Undefeated Tarleton State

Silver City, N.M—Following an exciting final home game and Senior Day last weekend against #18 Midwestern State, the Mustang football team looks to continue their strong offensive performance against the undefeated, seventh ranked Tarleton State.

Although the team came up short against MSU, the Mustangs
scored the most points in a game this season under Raemos Fano (Pago Pago, American Samoa/Fagaitua) who stepped up in the absence of Blayne Armstrong (Ozark, MO/Marshfield). Fano finished the game, completing 15 passes in 27 attempts for 209 yards and two touchdowns. DeAndre Williams (Tucson, AZ/Tucson Magnet) had another big game with 10 carries for 116 yards, 71 of which led to a touchdown in the fourth quarter. Arkemus Baskerville (Lindenwald, NJ/Lenape) added 77 yards in 17 carries and a touchdown. Isaac Crichton (Honolulu, HI/Saint Francis) added two receptions for 66 yards and two touchdowns.

Not only will the Texans have a home field advantage, but have yet to drop a game this season. With a top ten national ranking, and a No. 2 regional ranking, the Texans can earn an outright Lone Star Conference championship with a win this weekend. 9-0 on the season after a 59-3 win over Lincoln (Mo.) last weekend, the Texans look to maintain their perfect record as well as the right to host a first-round playoff game. The Texans are led by Xavier Turner leads the ground attack with 928 yards, while Ben Holmes lead the Texans passing with 1,909 yards for 21 touchdowns. Zimari Manning leads on the receiving end with 643 yards on 32 catches and nine touchdowns. Defensively, Jai Edwards leads the team with 63 tackles.

Adam Clark who led the Mustangs, prior to Head Coach Frank Tristan, joined the coaching staff at Tarleton State and will meet up with his former team this weekend for the first time after stepping down.

Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. (CST). Live stats and video will be available.
