Men’s Basketball Game Sunday in Albuquerque to be Broadcasted Live

ALBUQUEQUE, N.M. – The Western New Mexico University men's basketball game against Fort Lewis College this Sunday will be broadcasted live on ProView Networks, channel 26 on Comcast in Albuquerque.

The broadcast will also be aired via Facebook live through ProView Networks. That link will be provided later in the week and will be available on wnmumustangs.com and social media platforms.

The game against Fort Lewis is part of a Conference Challenge at The Pit on the campus of the University of New Mexico. The Mustangs will tipoff with Fort Lewis at 3 p.m. on Sunday, with the pregame show starting at 2:45 p.m. This will be the first games WNMU has played in The Pit since Nov. 22, 2014 when they faced Eastern New Mexico and the Greyhounds claimed the 94-87 victory.

WNMU will open the Conference Challenge on Saturday against New Mexico Highlands starting at 3 p.m. Live stats will be available for that contest.

Junior Haneef Vaughn-Wilson (Philadelphia, PA/Constitution) had a strong game in his first contest with the Mustangs in the exhibition against UTEP as he went for 12 points. Junior Willie McCray (Clovis, NM/Clovis/Westwind Prep Academy) added 10, while senior Latrell Spivey (Phoenix, AZ/Westview) and juniors Jordan Enriquez (El Paso, TX/Bel Air) added six points apiece. A few other new pieces to this year's team also played in that game in junior Jon-Reese Woodson (Corpus Christi, TX/Carroll), junior Davis Wade (Jackson, MS/Will C Wood), junior O'Shayne Reid (Jamaica, NY/John Bowne) and redshirt freshman Timothy Muniz (El Paso, TX/Canutillo).

NMHU won both meetings against the Mustangs last year, as WNMU came close to the win in Silver City, falling by just seven points. The Cowboys have won the last four matchups in the meeting with the last win for the Mustangs coming on Feb. 28, 2015 at home, 84-83.

NMHU went 10-17 last year, missing out on the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference tournament by two games. It will be a totally different team this year for the Cowboys, as top scorers Ron Lawton, Marlon Johnson, Kieran Woods and James Healy all finished their eligibility last year. The team has two seniors, seven juniors, four sophomores and three freshmen.

Fort Lewis is the Preseason pick to win the RMAC this season and begin the year ranked 16th in the national rankings. The Skyhawks went 26-7 last year and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division II South Central Regional. They defeated Tarleton State in the first round in overtime. FLC has won the last six meetings against WNMU with the last Mustang win coming on Feb. 8, 2013 in Silver City, 66-64.

Rasmus Bach returns to lead the team after he posted 18.2 points per game last year, second best on the squad. Daniel Hernandez added 10.2 points and Brandon Wilson with 8.9 will also be back this year as seniors. Wilson led the team in rebounding at 7.5 per game.

The Skyhawks faced Northern New Mexico in an exhibition contest on Nov. 3 and came away with the 96-82 win in Espanola. DJ Miles led the team with 17 points, with Bach adding 13 points.
