SILVER CITY, N.M. – Following a pair of road trips to Colorado, the Western New Mexico University men's basketball team will host Black Hills State University and Chadron State College this weekend.
First on Friday night at 7:30 p.m., the Mustangs will face Black Hills State. The Yellow Jackets are 5-11 overall and 3-6 in the RMAC. Their wins this season include Western State at home in overtime and then road victories against Regis (in double overtime) and this past Saturday at Chadron State. BHSU is 3-3 at home and 2-6 away from Spearfish.
The Yellow Jackets average 63.4 points per game while opponents are piling up 71.2 per contest. They shot 42.2 percent from the field and opponents are hitting at 49.5 percent. Myles Henry averages 10.2 points to lead the team. Riley Ryan adds 9.5, Yoshio Allen at 8.8 and Brody Brisk at 8 per game. Ryan leads the team in rebounds at 4.4 per game.
BHSU took last year's matchup in Spearfish, 75-60. The last meeting in Silver City during the 2012-13 season went to WNMU, 74-69.

WNMU will host Chadron State on Saturday night also at 7:30 p.m. The Eagles are 3-10 overall and 2-7 in the RMAC having lost seven straight. They opened conference play with two home wins against Colorado Mesa and Western State, but have since lost seven straight. They fell just short this past weekend against Black Hills State by a point. Chadron State is 3-4 at home and 0-6 away from Chadron.
The Eagles average 61.4 points per game and allow opponents 71.8 per game. They shoot 38.7 percent from the field and opponents connect on 44.8 percent. Kendrick Holliman and Christopher Smith average in double-figures with Holliman tallying 14.2 and Smith at 11.7 points per game. Holliman also leads in rebounds per game at 5.4.
CSC held on to defeat WNMU in Chadron last year, 88-82. The Mustangs claimed a 75-65 win in Silver City during the 2012-13 campaign.
WNMU is 1-13 overall and 1-9 in RMAC play. The Mustangs are 0-5 at home, 1-5 on the road and 0-3 in neutral contests.
Marcos Castrillo (San Francisco, CA/Pinole Valley) leads the way at 12.5 points per game. He also has team highs in rebounds (5.5) and field goals made (59).
Terrez Scott (Santa Clarita, CA/Valencia) adds 10.6 points per game along with a team-high 25 steals and 56 assists.
Brandon Tanter (Long Beach, CA/Los Angeles Prep) tallies 8.4 and
Gavin Wood (Florence, AZ/Florence ) chips in 7.7 per contest.
Scott is second in the RMAC in terms of steals per game (2.1) and third in assists per game (4.7). Scott and Tanter rank seventh and eighth respectively in the RMAC in minutes played with Scott logging 32.5 and Tanter with 31.9.
