Schedule Changes For Softball This Weekend

DURANGO, Colo. – Due to weather, the Western New Mexico University softball team will now play on Sunday and Monday.


The game times will remain the same with WNMU facing Adams State University first on Sunday at 12 p.m. They will then battle Fort Lewis College at 2 p.m. On Monday they will open with Fort Lewis at 10 .a.m., before concluding the set at 12 p.m. versus Adams State.


The Grizzlies are 4-0 in the RMAC after sweeping New Mexico Highlands and are 5-8 overall.


The Skyhawks are 1-3 in the RMAC and 5-9 overall after opening RMAC play at Regis.


WNMU is 3-14 overall and 1-3 in the RMAC following a conference opener at home this past weekend against Colorado Christian.
Senior Ricki Gentry (Lakeside, CA/Christian High School) leads the team with a .420 batting average and is eighth in the RMAC. Junior Stephanie Higgins (Escondido, CA/Mission Hills High School) leads the team in doubles with seven and leads the RMAC and has a .305 batting average. Senior Mariah McDonald (Silver City/Silver City High School) holds the team lead in triples with two which is good to tie for third in the RMAC. She also leads the team in home runs with two, tied for eighth in the RMAC, and RBI with 10, while accumulating a .305 batting average. Senior Kale Gahn (Phoenix, AZ/Pinnacle High School) is second on the team with a .385 batting average, a home run and nine RBI. Sophomore Mary Othon (Tucson, AZ/Desert View High School) holds a .319 batting average and has six doubles. Sophomore Domi Shone (Gold Canyon, AZ/Mesquite) has all three of the team wins and is tied for third in the RMAC.
