DENVER, Colo. – The No. 20 ranked Regis University Rangers overpowered the Western New Mexico University volleyball team Friday night coming away with the 3-0 (17-25, 13-25, 20-25) win in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action.

Western New Mexico University (WNMU) came back in the first set from a 3-0 deficit to tie the set at four on a service ace from Alyssa Meihack (Fallon, NV/Churchill County High School). Regis University (RU) responded going on a 7-2 run for an 11-6 lead forcing a Lady Mustang timeout. WNMU (7-11, 4-4 RMAC) would get back to within two, 12-10, on an attack error. RU (12-6, 6-2 RMAC) again came back with another run, this one an 8-1 variety to push the lead to 20-11. The Rangers would keep the momentum going on their way to taking the set, 25-17.

WNMU tied the second set early at three on a kill by Angelina Pulu (Long Beach, CA/Robert A. Millikan High School). RU came back with a 9-3 run to open up a 12-6 lead. The Lady Mustangs would get back to within four, 12-8, following an attack error, but that would be as close as they would get the rest of the set with the Rangers finishing on a 13-5 run for a 25-13 set win and 2-0 match lead.
