The Mustangs had a rough start to the 2011 season, dropping 14 of their first 18 games, but they ended the season strong. WNMU finished with an even .500 record (27-27) and a 23-15 mark in the RMAC after two wins over Mesa State Sunday, 10-2 and 6-1. The two wins helped seal the RMAC West Division title.
Mesa State finishes the regular season at 22-21 overall and 20-18 in conference action.
With not all of the RMAC scores in at the time of release, the Mustangs' opponent at the RMAC tournament is yet to be determined.
Kaitlynn Barnes (Phoenix, AZ, Deer Valley High School) went 3-for-4 in the first game with four RBIs.
Sarah Byrne (Glendale, AZ, Cactus High School, New Mexico State University) also had four RBIs on two of her hits.

Bri Robles (Mesa, AZ, Mesa High School, Phoenix College) made it to .500 with the game one win (14-14). She had seven strikeouts with only one earned run off of seven hits.
Byrne moved from first base to pitcher in the second game. She, like Robles, had seven strikeouts in the complete game with one earned run. Barnes repeated her performance with three hits on four at-bats. Two of her four hits were doubles.
Aimee Vasquez (Ruidoso, NM, Ruidoso High School) continued her strong hitting with three hits.
