In RMAC play, the Mustang women's tennis team split Friday. In the first match, they came up short against Nebraska-Kearney, 6-3. They rebounded in the afternoon with a 5-4 victory over Colorado Christian.

Against Nebraska-Kearney, the team's three points came from Emily Lampman (Kerrville, TX, Tivy High School) and Nikolina Vukadin (Pale, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sredwjoskolski Centar Pale). The duo won at the no. 1 spot, 8-6, and then both got a “W” in singles. Vukadin won the first set, 7-5, at no. 1 but then dropped the second, 6-2. She came back with a vengeance in the tiebreaker, winning 10-5. Lampman had a similar story, winning in the third set, 6-4. 

Dena Irvin (Farmington, NM, Farmington High School) and Davida Aragon (Arenas Valley, NM, Cobre High School) came up big against Colorado Christian. For the first time this season, the pair won their doubles match, 8-6. Aragon then won at the singles no. 6 position, 6-4 and 6-1.

“It's not easy to play two matches on the same day,” says assistant coach Carolina Hannes, “yet, Emily, Nikolina, Nicki Duenas (Gilbert, AZ, Mesquite High School, Mesa Community College), and Davida played really good tennis and showed great effort in both matches. Their performance definitely helped us a lot today. Hopefully, we will be able to keep
this up tomorrow and grab one more win.”
