The Mustangs, seeded no. 4 in the RMAC tournament, took down no. 5 Colorado Christian Friday afternoon in Denver, 5-4, but then had a tough time against no. 1 Nebraska-Kearney. The Lopers got the clinch, 5-0.

In the first matchup, doubles Dena Irvin (Farmington, NM, Farmington High School) and Davida Aragon (Arenas Valley, NM, Cobre High School) earned the Mustangs first point, 8-6, but WNMU was still down, 2-1, heading into singles. The Mustangs nabbed three quick points in singles and then it was down to Nikolina Vukadin (Pale, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sredwjoskolski Centar Pale).

Vukadin won the first set, 6-2, and then dropped the second, 4-6. She came back in the third with a vengeance. She won, 6-2, to help the Mustangs advance on in the tournament.

After the Nebraska-Kearney doubles, the Lopers only needed two more points to win the match. One point came after a WNMU forfeit. Nickola Messbarger then had little trouble with WNMU's Nicki Duenas (Gilbert, AZ, Mesquite High School, Mesa Community College), falling in straight sets (6-2, 6-2).

The Mustangs will face no. 3 Metro State at 9:00 a.m. Saturday.
