Mustangs Blast Fort Lewis

Sophomore Aimee Vasquez
It was 72 degrees with an extremely light wind, but the Mustangs hit like it was blowing about 60 miles an hour. The Mustangs had 10 homeruns in the two games to then make the scores look more like football games than softball games. WNMU run-ruled Fort Lewis in both games, 10-2 and 24-10.

Playing in her final game at home, number 24 Emily Huhta (Albuquerque, NM, Manzano High School, Lamar Community College) closed the final game with a win, and ironically, the Mustangs scored 24 runs. Huhta allowed two hits but threw no strikeouts. Bri Robles (Mesa, AZ, Mesa High School, Phoenix College) posted the early win, striking out two batters and giving up eight hits.

Aimee Vasquez (Ruidoso, NM, Ruidoso High School) went 7-for-7 at the plate with two homeruns and six RBIs over the two games. Kaitlynn Barnes (Phoenix, AZ, Deer Valley High School) had three homeruns for eight RBIs. Both recorded a 2.000 slugging percentage. Ten of the 11 Mustang players who saw time at the plate recorded at least one hit.
