Two singles matches went to a third set Saturday morning in Silver City. No. 3 Emily Lampman (Kerrville, TX, Tivy High School) and No.4 Nicki Duenas (Gilbert, AZ, Mesquite High School, Mesa Community College) both took the first set but dropped the second by a score of 6-2. The two Mustangs tried to bounce back in the third, but it wasn't enough. The Mustangs fell to Mesa State, 8-1.

Nikolina Vukadin (Pale, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sredwjoskolski Centar Pale) recorded the lone point for the Mustangs after Mesa's Vicotria Sargent was forced to retired because of injury. Vukadin won the first set 6-2 and was on her way to second set victory when Sargent called it quits.
