The Mustangs got knocked out of the RMAC Tournament early with two straight losses Thursday afternoon. WNMU produced plenty of hits, 15, in the first game against Regis University but only scored three runs. The Mustangs moved over to the other bracket of the double elimination tournament with the 6-3 loss. Against Chadron State, the bats were suddenly frozen. WNMU connected for only two hits and no runs, which ended the tournament road with the scoreboard showing 6-0.
As the second seed of the tournament, the Mustangs still have a slight chance to head to the NCAA Regional Tournament with an at-large bid.
Kristina Barr (San Diego, CA, La Costa Canyon High School, Central Community College) and
Kaitlynn Barnes (Phoenix, AZ, Deer Valley High School) posted the only two WNMU hits against Chadron. Both had three versus Regis.
Courtney Reyes (Alamogordo, NM, Alamogordo High School) also posted three hits in the early game.
Defensively, the purple and gold could not stop their opponents' base runners. There were five steals between the two games.
