After allowing Mesa State to throw a no-hitter in the first game of the series yesterday (8-0) and then dropping the second game of the day, 7-4, the Mustangs finally strung together nine runs in the first of two games on Sunday to earn their only win of the weekend, 9-4. WNMU lost the last game in the bottom of the sixth, 5-4.
The Mustangs are now 24-21 overall and 20-13 in conference play while the Mesa State Mavericks are just above .500 overall with a 18-16 record and are a perfect .500 in the RMAC (16-16).
In the early showing on Saturday, WNMU committed four errors in the field and went 1-2-3 on every at-bat except for two, which were walks. Mesa State, on the other hand, knocked three balls out of the park and connected with six other hits for eight runs. The game was called after 4½ innings.

WNMU then scored another two runs thanks to a costly Mesa State error in the top of the fifth. The 4-2 lead was cut in half with Sara Jordan's second homerun of the day on Mesa State's turn at bat in the fifth.
The hits and runs kept coming for the Mavs in the bottom of the sixth. Four hits and one error later, the scoreboard read 9-4. The Mustangs needed a big rally in the seventh, but
