The WNMU softball team had to face bitter cold on Wednesday afternoon, but it didn't cool their bats. The Mustangs combined for 32 hits in the doubleheader and nabbed two wins (11-2, 10-2), each in six innings, from the Chadron State Eagles.

Kaitlynn Barnes (Phoenix, AZ, Deer Valley High School) started the hitting frenzy with a single. It was followed up with five other hits as the Eagles' pitchers faced every WNMU batter in the lineup at least once. Six runs scored.
The game was called in the bottom of the sixth with one out after WNMU's
Aimee Vasquez (Ruidoso, NM, Ruidoso High School) hammered her first homerun of the season, bringing in
Brittney Batten (Benson, AZ, Benson High School) who reached on a double to centerfield.
